Sometimes birth plans don’t go as we hope. Baby C’s momma worked crazy hard to have a VBAC and it seems her little girl had different plans. We got the call that it was time on Christmas Day. Noel was just shy of 42 weeks and had been doing everything imaginable to help convince her little girl to make her debut on her own schedule. Having been in labor for several days they headed up to the hospital and when arriving found myself and their doula right there ready for them. They made their way into traige and from there things didn’t go as they had hoped. Noel wasn’t very far along and had a bit of a temperature. They talked, they prayed and soon their spirits were calmed after a hard decision. After waiting to see if things would progress, and talking to her doctor, they made the call and scheduled a C-Section for the next morning, December 26th. Her doula, Evangeline of Courageous Motherhood, and I made a plan to meet up early the next morning to be with them before things got started.
Fast forward a few hours and we were back up at the hospital after finding out Noel had been rushed back for an Emergency Cesarean at around 1 that morning, only 2-3 hours after we had left. We got there as soon as we got the news and her doula transitioned them from post-op to their recovery room, while I captured as much of the story as I could.
They had a beautiful baby girl born on December 26th, 2014. She had the best head of hair I have yet to see on a baby and still has the prettiest olive skin.
