While driving home from my very first MOPS meet I got the call. It was Sheena and they were on their way to the hospital. I could tell from our phone call that she was pretty far along. I drove straight to my sisters house to drop off my girls and then headed up to meet them.
I have never had such a crazy time finding a parking space. It was a Wednesday afternoon and people were everywhere. I took a drive through the parking garage, every spot was taken, all the way to the top. I tried the other garage, same problem, but this one took forever to get through. I drove through all the outside lots and after 35 minutes of searching I finally drove to a random building and hiked to the hospital. It was insane. I didn’t even think about using the valet service, but next time I encounter the mid-week craziness I will be giving them a visit.
When I got to the room I could tell Sheena was close to ready. Her pain was intense, and she was focused and quiet.
I got there just in time to grab some laboring pictures and then the next time they checked her it was time to get setup and have baby girl breath her first breaths.
It only took Sheena a few minutes to have her baby in her arms, and it was a beautiful sight. Sheena was glowing the entire time I was there. She even made some work calls while holding her fresh baby in her arms. It was definitely a first hearing a mom say “Sorry I missed your call, I’m at the hospital and had my baby about an hour ago.” I’m sure that was a first for the person on the other line as well.
Sheena and Eric were wonderful and it was so fun to be there with them during this amazing life changing experience.
