On black Friday my family and I set out with a group of friends to get our Christmas trees. It’s become a tradition over the past few years, and this year we continued. Our daughters helped us pick one out and that afternoon we were decorating while my hubby put the Christmas lights up on the house. It was a good day. Around 4pm I got a call. Julie’s water had broken and she was getting checked in at triage. I had a Thanksgiving day baby, so to have another one during thanksgiving weekend would really kick the holiday weekend off strong!
Julie kept me updated and around 9 that evening it was time for me to head up to the hospital. When I got there it was quiet. The halls were calm and when I found the room I walked in to a peaceful space. Julie and Aaron have such a sweet relationship. The way he makes her laugh reminds me of how my husband makes me laugh. The way he concentrated on her, wanting to make her smile. Their love and friendship is so evident. It was such a fun and sweet experience to be there with them. Laughter is so important in my own marriage, and I love when I see it in others as well.
Once I arrived, Julie’s body didn’t waste anytime. When I got to the hospital she was between 5-6cm. Less than 2 hours later baby E was calling out and laying on her mommy’s chest, while her dad beamed right next to her.
It was a wonderful way to end Black Friday, celebrating as a new family got to meet their newest daughter.
