A first baby… There are so many emotions when a woman is laboring and going through childbirth for the first time. The mystery of the unknown, and the excitement and love for this child you are about to meet. This little boy was welcomed with so much love. After a long week of pre-labor and then intense active labor these parents were ready. Every minute they were that much closer to holding their precious son. I don’t feel my words can begin to tell their story, so hopefully this video does it justice. Congratulations again, Foster family, it was such a joy capturing your story. I have been so excited… Keep Reading
This family has such a special place in my heart. We met a few years ago after the Lord answered a lot of prayers asking for a neighbor with young kids. We had a 2 year old and 4-month old at the time and were a 1-car family, so having a friend nearby that didn’t involve driving somewhere would be a dream come true. We noticed a moving van, as I’m sure everyone else did on our quiet retiree-filled street. It was the end of winter so we were indoors most of the time. After a few weeks I thought I noticed a pregnant gal. Glimpses here and there as… Keep Reading
Getting to return after babies birth-day and capture a family in their home is always so much fun. Watching mom and dad in their comfort zone. Seeing how they’ve adjusted and how baby has changed the way they go about their day. Watching and quietly capturing them as they learn more about each other and their newest babe. Baby Ethan is this families first little one. He was busy taking in all his surroundings; the different noises, lights, and soft whispers by mom just before he drifted off to sleep while I left. It’s funny how you never really know what will happen at a Lifestyle Newborn session. Each one is so… Keep Reading
Justin and Mariah contacted me the month they found out they were expecting. This was their first baby and they had done a lot of research and preparation beforehand and wanted to make sure they got everything in the books right away. Mariah had a wonderful and healthy pregnancy and at her 20 week anatomy scan they found out they were having a BOY! They broke my streak, as my last 6 births had been girls! Before we knew it August was here: Due month had arrived. I got a call early Monday morning around 2am that Mariah thought her water had broken. I grabbed my bags and after she confirmed it… Keep Reading
On occasion I get the opportunity do pregnancy photos for some of my birth moms. Carrie was one of those and she is absolutely wonderful to work with. Carrie had her little boy last December and although her pregnancy is over I wanted to make sure I shared some of our favorite shots from that visit. Her family lives on a beautiful property and their home has amazing window ledge seats which made for some great shots of mom and her belly. The weekend before Carrie had a gals night with some close friends and had some Henna work done on her belly, which you can briefly see in the outdoor photos.
There are some stories that I love to share. Describing the scene and environment surrounding a family just before and after they meet the newest member of their family. It’s exciting, emotional, heartfelt and an honor to get to do so. Some stories, however, can’t be shared so easily. Ashley contacted me about 6 weeks before her due date. Well, not technically her due date, but her induction date. You see Ashley was carrying triplets. You read that right, she had three precious girls in her womb. When we talked on the phone I knew we would connect quickly, and after hearing her story I knew we weren’t meant to… Keep Reading
I had the opportunity to photography a sweet growing family in Navarre. They had their first child, a little boy, at home and asked me to come in and take some newborn photos. He was the quietest little guy and just watched everything around him until he finally fell asleep at the end of our time together. He had the cutest tiny lips, which you will see at the end. It makes me miss the days when my girls were this little, but at the same time thankful that they still love to cuddle, just like this little guy. –
It’s hard to believe so much time has passed since the littlest Sanchez was born. When Dahlia told me the news that they were expecting I was ecstatic. We go to the same church and she and my husband lead worship together on Sundays. Dahlia was in charge of the nursery, and since I have two little ones I got to see her most Sundays. My youngest was almost two, so their announcement was the perfect timing to help tame any baby fever I was having, thank you again for that Sanchez family ;) Dahlia was using one of my favorite OB’s, Dr. Andrews. Her pregnancy was throughout the fall and winter holidays and before… Keep Reading
First 48 sessions are so fun. Definitely one of my favorites to photograph. Baby has been with his parents for a bit, things have quieted down and I get to capture a new family as they bond with their newest little one. Sometimes it’s while their family is in the room, and other times, like here, just with mom, dad and then grandma as she popped in for her first introduction. A little peek at Atlas and his parents as they cuddle in bed, have sleepy smiles, kiss and count those 10 little toes and nurse while dad relaxes up close to his wife and son.
I still remember our conversation. Last summer I was coming home from strawberry picking with my daughters when Amanda told me the news. She was pregnant(!!!), and this was going to be her 3rd, and last, baby. She has two beautiful kiddos already, a boy and girl. I was excited to hear her news and then doubly squeal-filled when she told me she was using Dr. Andrews, one of my favorites in our area. He is always so respectful of moms wishes and has a goofy sense of humor that makes for a relaxed and joyful birthing environment. Her pregnancy flew by during the busy holiday months. I keep hearing from moms having… Keep Reading
It was a rainy Saturday night when I got the call. The midwife had been called and was on her way as I grabbed my gear bag and headed out the door. The roads were empty and the night was quiet. There is something extra relaxing about night laboring, and when you throw a home birth on top of that it makes for an even more tranquil environment. Mom being in her own space, lying in her bed and getting small breaks in a warm bath, being mere steps away from her children sleeping in their room… It may take a mountain of convincing my husband, but if we have anymore children down… Keep Reading
This was my first birth of 2015. A January baby whose mom had an amazingly successful 3VBA2C! It’s amazing what we can do when we research, prepare and put our mind to something. Trusting our bodies is something that is becoming less common, and while I believe in putting our and babies health first, sometimes it also means switching care providers that have the same goal and respect for us that we want for and from them. Charlotte Elizabeth was born at 3:57 pm, weighing in at 9 pounds 3 ounces and 20 inches long. She was welcomed by one happy and proud mom and dad, their encouraging doula Amber… Keep Reading
